  • 6/11/2014 JOB – Senior Chemist/Chemical Engineer – Pure Oleochemicals, Iowa City, IA We are seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of a Senior Chemist/Chemical Engineer for our growing technology company. This person is responsible for the fabrication of polymeric membranes, completing separation experiments, and characterizing the results using different spectroscopic techniques. Experience with polymer chemistry, membranes, and separations is highly desired. This person will work closely with others in the company to design experiments and to interpret the results.   • 6/1/2014 JOB Postdoc – Biochemist/Process Engineer – NCAUR-ARS, Peoria, IL. We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate, (Biochemical or related Process Engineer) for a two year appointment. Ph.D. is required. Salary is commensurate with experience ($57,408 – $59,321 per annum) plus benefits. Citizenship restrictions apply. The incumbent’s major duties will involve processing oleaginous yeasts for production of lipids and techno-economic modeling to determine feasibility. The overall object is to develop processes for converting biomass to lipids for production of biofuel and chemicals using novel oleaginous yeasts. The candidate will work within an inter-disciplinary team including microbiologists, chemical engineers, and chemists with expertise in biomass pretreatment, fermentation, yeast physiology, and lipid chemistry. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in fundamental process engineering. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to optimize fermentation conditions and scale-up bacterial cell culture to 5L-20L for production of novel fatty acids in E. coli. The candidate will focus on the identification of the best conditions for cell culture growth and fatty acid production, and development of separations processes. The candidate will work in the fermentation facility at Iowa State University as well as in the Biorenewables Research Laboratory.
