What are antimicrobials?

According to the National Pesticide Information Center at Oregon State University, antimicrobial products kill or slow the spread of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, protozoans, and fungi such as mold and mildew. Because many antimicrobial products are designed to kill pests, specifically germs or microorganisms, they are considered pesticides, and in the United States, are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
